Is about to get smashed out the park tonight.

Current (official) record: v Tottenham 1970 - 42,322

Re: Our record attendance
I wasn't there, but even with the West Lower being terrace, that must have been absolutely rammed. Chocka-block.

I was at Ipswich 86 and could hardly breathe in the South Bank.

Re: Our record attendance
No, but I was in there for Hereford in 1971 with 42,271 ... and that was a working MONDAY!

Re: Our record attendance
I was there but I still say that the unofficial highest attendance was 6th Round FA Cup V Burnley 1964 !!

You couldn't put your hand in your pocket.

Re: Our record attendance
I only mentioned Ipswich 86 because it was so rammed, but only about 31,000 (officially) in there.

How you get over 42,000 in there, I'll never know.

Re: Our record attendance
Sorry Troy, just checked, it was:

09 Mar 1968 FA Cup 5th round against Sheffield United H 1-2 attendance 38,440 but I'm pretty certain it was much higher than that, I was in the South Bank and could barely see the game, it was almost a Hillsborough situation in there

Re: Our record attendance
Some of those old games - sounds like a right tax dodge when the club announce the gate.

Being at a Match in 1970 makes me an old timer ? Was in the West Stand usual seats as a season ticket holder.

Re: Our record attendance
Gutted I am too young to have stood on the West bank terrace, looked fucking awesome when packed that did.

Re: Our record attendance
The Leeds game in the mid seventies which was a lockout must have been close , i think 42k as well .
That was one of the 2 games I got in when the South Bank doors were kicked in , the other being our 4-0 demolition of Chelski .
